Born in Crediton, Devon in 1891.
His parents were
William Henry Joseph Morrish(25/02/1892-1943) and
Sarah Jane Yarde(03/03/1866-1941).
They married in 1882.
Sidney had 7 brothers; Francis John(1885-01/09/1958),Wilfred William(08/02/1886-1972),
Albert Ernest(16/03/1889-28/05/1963),
Frederick James A(14/06/1893-1976),
Edward Ernest(born in 1897),
Henry Joseph(1899-1954) and
Percy Thomas(26/08/1907-1969).
He also had 3 sisters; Edith Mary(born in 1884),
Eliza Sophia(1887-1913) and Isabella M (born in 1902).
In the 1901 census,the family were recorded as living at Waterlake, Sandford,Crediton,Devon. William was employed as a cowman on a farm.
In the 1911 census, Sidney had left home and was living at The Ring of Bells,Cheriton,Fitzpaine,Devon,*where he was working as an Ostler(groom or stableman).
He enlisted in Exeter and his date of disembarkation into France was on 25/07/1915.
He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
Sidney was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,
the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
