Born in Minehead Somerset in 1896.He was baptised on 02/02/1896.

His parents were Thomas Emanuel King(1837-1896) and Mary Jane Knight(1864-24/06/1951).

They married on 05/10/1886. Thomas was a widower, who had previously married Betsy Sprague on 13/06/1859).

Edgar had 4 brothers; William Thomas(born on 06/11/1887), John Henry Knight(1892-1893), 

Edgar Henry(1893-1894)* and Alfred Edward( born in 1894). 

He also had 2 sisters; Ethel Mary (born 23/11/1891) and Eva Francis(born in 1891). 

In the 1901 census, the family was living at Shutewater, Bishops Hull, Taunton, Somerset. Mary Jane was working as a charwoman as her husband, Thomas a carpenter by trade had died in 1896.

She would remarry in 1912 to John Winsborough.

In the 1911 census, records Edgar boarding at 5 Hamwood Cottages, Bishops Hull, Taunton, Somerset,

whilst working as an errand boy. 

He enlisted in Minehead and his date of disembarkation into France was on 14/09/1915.

He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

Edgar was awarded the 1914-1915 Star, the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
