Born in Wellington Somerset in 1885.

His parents were Mark Webber(1859-1926) and

Jane Ware(1860-1903). They were married in 1882.

Mark had 2 brothers; William John(born in 1891) and George(born in 1898).

He also had 2 sisters; Martha Lucy(1897-1962) and Jane(born in 1898).

In the 1891 census the family were recorded as living at Way Town, Holcombe Rogus, Wellington, Somerset. Mark snr. was employed as a stone quarryman.

In the 1901 census, the family were still living at the same address and Mark snr. still had the same job.Mark jnr. was also now working as a carter at the stone quarry.

In the 1911 census, it showed that the family had moved to Dunns Court,Holocombe Rogus,Wellington,Somerset.

Mark snr. was now employed as a stone breaker and Mark jnr. a stone quarryman.

He enlisted in Exeter and his date of disembarkation into France was on 02/10/1915.

He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,

the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals

    

 

The Devon & Exeter Gazette - Friday July 21 1916 - "News has been received Mark son of Mr Mark Webber formerly foreman at Whipcott quarry has been killed in France;that another sonhas been wounded and that a third son is in hospital in India."
