Herbert Eustace Davies

Born in Swansea,Wales in 1897.

His parents were John Isaac Davies (born in 1862) and Ellen O'Shea(born in 1870). They were married in 1891.

Herbert had 4 brothers;John-W(born in 1893),Ernest Clifford(born in 1894),George-W(born in 1900) and Thomas-G(born in 1901).He also has a sister,Joyce Irene(born in 1905).

In the 1901 census,the family were recorded as living at 135, St Helens Avenue, Swansea. Herberts father was employed as a railway engine driver. 

In the 1911 census,the family were still living at  the same address and Herberts father was still a railway engine driver. Herbert was now recorded as attending school.

Herbert enlisted in Swansea and his date of disembarkation into France was on 27/07/1915.

He was killed in action on 01/07/1916. 

His home address at the time of his death was

22 Philips Parade, Swansea. 

He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,

the British 1914-1918 War and Allied Victory Medals.
