Born in Marlborough Devon in 1885.

His parents were James Lethbridge(1841-1918) and Susanna Rundle Thornton(1847-1923).

They married in 1871.

Thomas had 6 brothers; James Henry(born in 1873), John(1875-1938),Richard(born in 1877),

William Thornton(26/03/1878-1952),

Ernest William(1882-1964) and Alfred(born in 1884).

He also had 3 sisters; Elizabeth Mary(born in 1871),

Sarah Jane(26/10/1875-1964) and

Rosa Caroline(born in 1887).

In the 1891 census the family were recorded as living at the cottage Lower Town Marlborough Devon. James was employed as an agricultural labourer.

In the 1901 census it shows that Thomas had left home and was living on Aleton Farm Marlborough Devon and was working with cattle.

In the 1911 census ,Thomas had returned home,which was in Kingsbridge South Devon and was working as a horseman on a farm.

He enlisted in Kingsbridge and his date of disembarkation into France was on 24/08/1915.

He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914 -1915 Star,the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
