16603 Private William Henry Davey

Born in Woodbury,Devon in 1894.

His parents were Job Davey(1852-1904 and

Thurza Marks(1853-1928). They were married in 1873.

William had 2 brothers; Sidney William(1882-1954) and Edward John(1886-08/08/1964).

He also had 4 sisters;Melina(born in 1873),

Lily(born in 1876),Alice M(arks?)(born in 1881) and

Lucy(born in 1884).

In the 1901 census the family were recorded as living at

Globe Hill Road ,Woodbury, Devon. Williams father was employed as a farm labourer.

In the 1911 census the family were still at the same address ,but Williams father had died in 1904 and his mother was now working from home as a Honiton lace maker. William was employed as a masons labourer.

He enlisted in Exeter and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the British War 1914-1918 and

the Allied Victory medals.
