Born in Cullompton,Devon in 1893.
His parents were John Denner(1870-08/03/1966) and Emma Jane Gatheridge(born in 1871). They were married in 1892.
John had 3 brothers; Artie(born in 1895), Gilbert(22/12/1901-31/09/1974) and
Harold(1909-03/06/1989). He also had 2 sisters; Lily (born in 1898) and Daisy(born in 1905).
In the 1901 census, the family were recorded as living at London Inn Court,Cullompton,Devon.Johns father was employed as a brick works labourer.
In the 1911 census the family were now living at
Station Road,Cullompton,Devon and both John and his father were employed as brick works labourers.
He enlisted in Cullompton, Devon and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and
Allied Victory medals.
