Born in Holbeton near Plymouth, Devon in 1897.
His parents were Ernest Emanuel Gilbury (07/07/1874-1947) and Bessie ?(08/11/1871-1940). they were married in 1894.
Benjamin had 4 brothers; Charles(born in 1899),
Albert(born in 1902),William(born in 1907) and
Alfred Reginald(29/12/1911-2003). He also had a sister,Emily Winifred(born in 1904).
In the 1901 census,the family were recorded as living in Gibb,Holbeton nr Plymouth. Ernest was employed as an agricultural labourer.
Benjamin enlisted in Plymouth and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
