Born in Fairford Gloucester in 1892.
His parents were Albert Bowles(1868-20/02/1927) and Elizabeth Ireland(15/02/1864-1940). They married on 14/10/1888.
Arthur had 2 sisters; Gertrude Annie May(1890-16/09/1928) and Winifred Nellie(17/11/1894-1979).
In the 1901 census, the family were recorded as living at no.2 The Village Cornwell Oxfordshire. Albert was employed as a domestic gardener.
Arthur enlisted in Okehampton Devon,at this time he was residing in Clovelly Devon.
He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and Allied
Victory medals.
