Born in Little Hulton Lancashire on 09/07/1893. He was baptised on 03/08/1893.
His parents were William Thomas Williams(1855-1894) and Catherine Pegg(1858-1934). They were married in 1877.
He had 3 brothers; John Godfrey(06/07/1878-1951),
George Henry(born in 1884) and
William Thomas(1887-1950)
He also had 4 sisters; Harriet Ann(1880-1891),
Charlotte Dora(1882-1960),
Catherine Jane(29/05/1888-1954) and
Harriet Ann(24/05/1891-1984).
For some reason James appears to have been missed off the 1901 census so his only appearance in the census records was in 1911,where the family were recorded as living at 544 Manchester Road Westhoughton,Lancashire. James was employed as a coal miner-haulage underground.
He enlisted in Bolton and his date of disembarkation into France was 16/12/1915. He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
