18431 Private Frederick George Oxford

Born in Plymouth in 1893.

His parents were James Oxford(29/01/1854-1950) and Mary Jane Honeywell(06/03/1862-1941). They were married in 1883.

Frederick had a brother, Alfred James(27/02/1884-1958) and a sister, Edith (born on 15/09/1897). 

He also had a half brother Charles(27/05/1883-1967).

In the 1901 census, the family were recorded as living at

13 Molyneaux Place Devonport Plymouth. James was a naval pensioner.

The 1911 census showed that the family were now living at 43,College Road Keyham Barton Devonport.

James, as well as receiving his pension from the navy was also a rope maker. Frederick was an errand boy for a photographer's shop.

He enlisted in Plymouth and his date of disembarkation into France was on 15/12/1915. 

He was killed in  action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
