Born in Plymouth Devon in 1896.

His parents were Alfred James Stoneman(1872-1928) and Ellen Elizabeth H Booth(1872-1917). They married in 1892.

Thomas had 2 brothers; Alfred William(25/10/1892-19/02/1947) and William Henry(born in 1910).

He also had 4 sisters; Winifred(1898-1919), Annie(1900-1918),Maudie(born in 1904) and Ida Beatrice(1907-1913).

In the 1901 census the family were recorded as living on

Well Street, Plymouth,Devon. Alfred was employed as a mason.

the 1911 census recorded the family as now living at

24 Willow Street, Plymouth, Devon.  Alfred was still a mason and Thomas wa a grocers errand boy.

He enlisted in Plymouth and his date of disembarkation into France was on 06/10/1915. He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
