Born on 21/02/1889 in London.He was baptised on 10/03/1889.
His parents were Edward Walter Grimmett(born in 1853) and Maria Hurley(1852-1930). They were married on 25/12/1876.
At the time of Albert's baptism the family were living at
83 Chirton Road Mile End London.Edward was employed as a confectioner.
Albert had 3 brothers;Edward Thomas(born in 1878),
Herbert James(1882-1892) and
Sidney George(03/03/1887-1971).
He also had 3 sisters;Sarah Ann (1880-1882),
Maria Maud(1881-1882) and Florence Maud(born in 1896).
In the 1891 census the family were recorded as now living at
51 Bromley Street,Ratcliff,London.His father was now employed as a pastry cook.
In the 1901 census,the family had moved again,this time to
13 Chargeable Street,West Ham,London.His father was now recorded as being employed as a green grocer.
In the 1911 census,the family had once again moved addresses.This time they were living at 14 Upland Road, Plaistow ,London.His fathers employment was described as being a street hawker green grocer.
Albert was also working as a clerk for a tobacco manufacturer.
He enlisted in London and his date for disembarkation into France was on 06/10/1915.
He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,the British War 1914 -1918 and the Allied Victory medals.
