19186 Private Marshall Frank Williams

Born in Exeter in 1894.

His parents were Edwin Williams(1862-1925) and

Georgina Jane L Hill(1870-1948), they were married in 1889.

Marshall had a brother, Edgar(1893-06/10/1916) and a sister Annie(born in 1890).

In the 1901 census, the family were recorded as living at

61 Summerland Street,Exeter Devon. Edwin was employed as a tin plate worker.

By the time of the 1911 census, the family had moved to

4 Summerland Buildings, Clifton Road,Exeter. Edwin was now working as a meter maker in at a meter works. Marshall was employed as a house painter.

He enlisted in Exeter and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and

Allied Victory medals.

Williams – July 1st, 1916, killed in action, Marshall Frank, son of Mr. and Mrs E  Williams, 4 Summerland Buildings, Clifton Road Exeter aged 22 years.

   

His brother Edgar served as Private 2790  2nd/4th Battalion Devonshire Regiment . He was killed in action on 06/10/1916

whilst being attached to 2nd Battalion Queen’s Own (Royal West Kent Regiment). 

He is buried in Baghdad (North Gate) War Cemetery Iraq. Reference XXI.P.28.
