Born in Honiton Devon on 21/12/1899.
His parents were Alfred Harenburg(1868-1909) and Maud Mary Locke(28/12/1869-1949).
They married in 1889.
Robert had 3 brothers; Alfred John Major(13/02/1893-07/04/1978), Edward James Major (16/11/1895-06/12/1977)
and Ernest Edgar(19/07/1904-1948).
He also had a sister, Frances Maud(1902-1923).
In the 1901 census the family were recorded as living in Lees Buildings, Honiton, Exeter Devon.
Alfred was employed as a postman.
Robert was admitted to the Honiton School on 28/04/1902 staying there until 01/03/1906 before transferring
to the boys school.
In the 1911 census Robert was recorded as living with his brothers Alfred and Edward at 5 Kings Terrace,
Honiton ,Exeter .
Robert enlisted in Exeter and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

We never knew what pain he bore,

We only know he passed away
And never said good-bye.

He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
