Born in Honiton Devon in 1899.
His parents were Alfred Harenburg(1868-1909) and
Maud Mary Locke(28/12/1869-1949). They married in 1869.
Robert had 3 brothers; Arthur John Major(13/02/1893-07/04/1978), Edward James(16/11/1895-06/12/1977) and Ernest Edgar(1904-1948).
He also had a sister, Frances Maud(1902-1923).
In the 1901 census the family were recorded as living in
Lees Buildings,Honiton, Exeter Devon. Alfred was employed as a postman.
In the 1911 census Robert was recorded as living with his brothers Arthur and Edward at
5 Kings Terrace,Honiton ,Exeter .
Robert enlisted in Exeter and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and
Allied Victory medals.
