Born on 04/05/1879 in Coleraine County Derry, Ireland.

His parents were William Moore Wright(born in 1854) and Elizabeth Ann Henry(born in 1857). They married in 1875.

David had 6 brothers; William James(born 18/12/1876),

John(born in 1882),Hugh(born in 1885),

Thomas(born in 1887),Matthew(born in 1894) and

Samuel(born in 1897).

He also had 2 sisters;

Susan Margaret Wilson(born on 22/02/1891)

and Eliza(born in 1899).

The family must have left Ireland not long after Davids birth as in the 1881 Scottish census,they were recorded as living at

166 Castlebank Street ,Partick,Glasgow.  William was employed as a hole driller.

In the 1891 Scottish census, the family were still living at the same address and William was still employed as a hole driller.

David was now working as a messenger boy.    

In 1909 David married Bridget(born in 1891),no record of the marriage seems to exist,the information here is from the

1911 census. Together they had a daughter

Alice(born in Aldershot,in 1911).

In the 1911 census David was recorded as being at

Ewshot Barracks,Farmham,Crondall,Crookham,Hampshire.

He was a Serjeant in the 131st battery Royal Field Artillery.

His date of disembarkation into France was 16/08/1914.

He was killed in action on 10/11/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
