Born in Plymouth, Devon in 1887.
His parents were William George Lee(1847-1918) and Emma Jane Cole(1848-1922). They were married in 1879.
He had 3 sisters; Annie(born in 1872),Blanche(born in 1876 and Jane (born in 1880).
In the 1901 census the family were recorded as living at 16 Moon Street, Plymouth, Devon. Williams father was employed as a general labourer.
In the 1911 census, the family were still in the same address but Williams father was unemployed. William was a tool sharpener in a saw mill.
He enlisted in Newton Abbot and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and
Allied Victory medals.
