20822 Private Sidney Thomas Rogers

Born in 1892 in Plymouth,Devon.

His parents were Nutcombe Henry Rogers(1858-18/01/1923) and Annie Hannaford(1858-1911). They were married in 1890.

Sidney 4 brothers; David(born in 1891),Stanley(born in 1894),Edgar-G(born in 1896) and Harry(born in 1904).

He also had 2 sisters; Hilda Annie(01/03/1897-1970) and Elsie(born in 1901).

In the 1901 census,the family were recorded as living at

97 Gunville Road,Plymouth,Devon. Sidney's father  was employed as a police constable.

In the 1911 census,the family had moved to

145 Union Street, Plymouth,Devon.Sidney was employed as a domestic servant whilst his father was now a police pensioner.

 

He enlisted in Newquay and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals.
