20907 Private John William Bullock

Born in Devonport,Devon in 1896.

His parents were Richard James Bullock(01/01/1857-01/01/1901) and Harriett Ann Morrish(1866-1938). They were married in 1892.

John had 4 brothers; Richard James(born in 1884),

Edwin(born in 1885),Charles Henry(born in 1892) and Thomas Frances(born in 1898).

He also had 2 sisters; Harriet Maud(born in 1889) and Violet May(born in 1900).

Johns father, a pensioner from the Royal Navy and labourer at the H.M Dockyard in Devonport died on 01/01/1901 from injuries he sustained from an accident at work on 21/12/1900.(Western Evening Herald - 02/01/1901).

In the 1901 census the family were recorded as living on Pembroke Lane, Devonport, Devon.

By the time of the 1911 census the family had moved and were living at 17 Monument Street, Devonport. Johns mother was employed as a rope worker at H.M Dockyard. John was working as a butchers errand boy.

He enlisted in Devonport and was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1918 British War and

Allied Victory medals.
