Francis(Frank) was born on 23/05/1896 in Romford London.

His parents were Francis Harrop(born in 1862) and Elizabeth Walker(born in 1872). They were married in 1894.

Frank had a brother, Ruben John(01/06/1903-1912) and 

3 sisters; Elizabeth(01/01/1895-10/03/1900),

Laura Gertrude(20/12/1898-1974) and

Ivy Elizabeth(born in 1910).

In the 1901 census, the family were recorded as living at

22 Douro Street Bromley London. Frank snr was employed as a general labourer.

On 06/05/1901, Frank was admitted to Atley Road school.

In the 1911 census.It showed that the family had moved to 13 Hancock Road Bromley. Francis snr was employed by the borough council as a road worker. Frank was now working as a sorter packer in a sawmill.

He enlisted in London and his date of disembarkation into France was on 03/12/1914. He was killed in action on 01/07/1916.

He was awarded the 1914-1915 Star,

the 1914-1918 British War and Allied Victory medals. 

A pension of 5/- a week was awarded to his mother from 23/01/1917-22/01/1918.
