15014 Private George James Middlemass

                  East Yorkshire Regt.

                 6th July 1917 Age 29

​

Born in Plawsworth,Durham in 1888,he is recorded in the 1911 census as living at 25 Quarry Road Hebburn with his widowed father John George and his married sister Annie Noble. He was employed at the local foundry as a steel moulder.

​He enlisted on 11-11-1914 and served in England until 25-8-1915. During that time he was disciplined once,losing 6 days pay for an absence between 17-6-1915 and 22-6-1915.

He served in the Mediterranean between 25-8-1915 & 02-7-1916. During that time he was wounded in action on 10-9-1915 whilst serving in the Dardanelles.

He was posted to France on 03-7-1916 and died of his wounds on 06-7-1917.

His personal effects consisting of coin,wallet,photos,purse,stamp knife and a key were sent to his sister Annie Noble on 13-1-1919.
