2904 Private Donald McCallum

Born in Killarney, County Kerry, Ireland in 1897. His parents were James McCallum(27/09/1864) and Emma Manning(born on 06/04/1868). They were married on 14/10/1896.

Donald had 3 sisters, Mary(born in 1901), Emma(born in 1904) and Janet Campbell(born on 18/01/1909).

In the 1901(Scottish) census, the family were recorded as living at St Ann's, Johnstone, Dumfriesshire. James was employed as a head wood forester. 

By the time of the 1911 census, the family had moved to England and were living in Canford, Wimborne, Dorset. James was at school and his father was employed by Viscount Wimborne as a wood forester.

Donald enlisted in Perth, Scotland and was killed in action on 13/11/1916.

He was awarded the British War 1914-1918 and the Allied Victory medals.
