Born in 1894 in Sheffield, Yorkshire. He was baptised on 16/12/1894. His parents were Charles Wood (1867-1928) and Annie Clarke (1862-1934). They were married on 02/09/1890.
Charles had 2 brothers; William Henry (1899-1942) and Albert Ernest (24/09/1902-1985). He also had 2 sisters;
Elizabeth Annie (1893-1958) and Mary Ethel (1905-1985).
In the 1901 Census, the family were recorded as living at the Lodge house at 96 Tapton Crescent Road, Sheffield. Charles snr. was employed as a domestic coachman.
The 1911 Census records that the family were now living at care of Gledhow Hall in Leeds. Charles was working in a garage,
while his father was still a domestic coachman.
Charles enlisted in London and was killed in action on 13/112/1916.
