Robert had 2 brothers; James (born in 1882) and Andrew (09/02/1886-13/10/1966).
He also had 5 sisters; Maggie (16/07/1878-02/01/1969), Elizabeth (21/05/1879-28/05/1967), Mary (27/02/1884-22/08/1932), Alison (born in 1889) and Isabella (born in 1895).
Robert lost his father when he was only 3 years old. Robert snr. ( a coal miner) had been suffering with Addison disease(Addison's disease, also known as primary adrenal insufficiency or hypoadrenalism, is a rare disorder of the adrenal glands. The adrenal glands are 2 small glands that sit on top of the kidneys. They produce 2 essential hormones: cortisol and aldosterone. The adrenal gland is damaged in Addison's disease, so it does not produce enough cortisol or aldosterone.- NHS.uk) for 6 months when he finally passed away at 11pm on 25/12/1895. The family were living at 51 Grainger Street, Lochgelly at this time.
In the 1901 (Scottish) census, the family were recorded as now living at 104 Albany Street, Dunfermline.
They were also recorded as been at the same address in the 1911(Scottish) census and Robert was now working, though I am unable to understand what his job was as I cannot read the census entry.
Robert enlisted in Dunfermline and was killed in action on 13/11/1916.
He was awarded the 1914-1918 British war and allied victory medals.
