His parents were Samuel Shearing(1856-1952),a haulier
and Sarah Symonds(born in 1859).
They were married on 16/08/1891.
He had 3 brothers,Samuel(born 17/05/1894),
George(born in 1898) and Daniel(1899-1949).
He also had 2 sisters,olive(born in 1894) and
Eliza(born in 1903).
In the 1901 census,the family were recorded as living at Ferndown,Hampreston Dorset. His father was employed as a brushmaker.
In the 1911 census,they were recorded as living on Victoria Road,Ferndown,Hampreston,Dorset. William was employed as a carter.
He enlisted in Bournemouth,Hampshire as a Private(16603) in the 10th Reserve Cavalry before being transferred as a Rifleman(1/41164) in the 14th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles.
He was killed in action on 07/06/1917.
