Born in Brabourne,Kent in 1890.
In the 1891 census,he is recorded as living with his father,Richard Dryland(1860-1928),a publican and foreman of a tile works and his mother,Eliza Rose Annie(nee Chittenden(married 1881),born in1863 ,died 1925,at the Blue Anchor Inn,Brabourne,Kent.
Archibald had 5 brothers,Charles(1883-1954),Richard George(1886-1958),Albert Victor(17-03-1892-1978),Walter Reginald(13-05-1896-1977),Sydney(born in 1898) and 5 sisters,Alice Ellen(1885-19-12-1955),Rose Annie(12-12-1887-1975),Kate(1889-1940),Harriett Minnie(born in 1894) and Dorothy Beatrice(born in 1900).
In the 1911 census he is recorded as living with his brother Albert at The Lees,Smeeth,Kent and was employed as a gardener.
In 1912,he married Dorothy Mary Revell(1893-1967).
He enlisted in Ashford Kent as a private(13767) in the 6th Battalion East Kent Regiment.He was later transferred as rifleman(14/40162) into the 14th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles.
He was killed in action on 07-06-1917.
