Born in Dromore County Down,Northern Ireland in 1898.
His father was James Greer(born in 1872), a linen weaver
and his mother was Eliza(nee Prentice(married in 1888)),
who was born in 1873.
He had 3 brothers,Herbert(born in 1888),John(born in 1889) and Robert (born in 1900).
He also had 4 sisters,Annie(born in 1894),Mary(born in 1896),Ellen Jane(born in 1904) and Maggie (born in 1909).
In the Irish census taken on 31-03-1901,
the family are recorded as living at 54 Gallows Street Dromore Urban County Down.
James' father was employed as a carter.
In the Irish census taken on 02-04-1911,the family were now living at 15 Mount Street Dromore Urban County Down.
He enlisted in Lisburn County Antrim and was killed in action on 07-06-1917.
In his will dated 22-06-1916,he left all his property and effects to his mother.
