Born in Ballynure,Co.Antrim on 21-07-1878.
In the Irish census taken on 31-03-1901,he is recorded as living with his unmarried mother,Agnes at his widowed grandmothers (also named Agnes) house
in Ballyboley,Ballynure,Co.Antrim.
His mother was employed as a seamstress and
Robert was an iron turner.
In the Irish census taken on 02-04-1911,he is recorded as living with his blacksmith uncle,Hugh Laird and his family at Mill Lane,Ballyclare,Urban,Co.Antrim.
He enlisted in Ballyclare and his dis-embarkation into France was on 06-10-1915.
He was killed in action on 07-06-1917.
