Born in Bermondsey,London in 1882.
In the 1891 census, he is recorded as living with his father,Joseph George Marsh (1847-1894),a warehouseman and his mother,Alice(nee Martin(married 1873),who was born in 1853, at 20 Salisbury Place,Bermondsey.
He had 4 brothers,Joseph J(born in 1873),George James Frederick(born in 1877),Henry(born in 1888),Edward J (born in 1890) and Charles Thomas(1892-1954).
He also had 3 sisters,Alice Amelia(born in 1875),Louisa(born in 1889) and Caroline (born in 1894).
On 04-11-1906 he married Harriett Elizabeth Crane(1883-1949) and they went on to have 3 children,
James Francis Leslie(29-04-1907-1992),Lillian(born in 1908) and Eileen(born in 1911).
In the 1911 census he was employed as a printer whilst Harriett was an ironer in a laundry.They lived at 34 Peacock Street,Walworth,Newington Butts,London.
He enlisted in Camberwell and his dis-embarkation into France was on 12-12-1915.
He was killed in action on 03-07-1917.
