Thomas Newcomen Corry Burnett

Born in Abbeyderg,Keenagh,County Longford,Ireland

on 24/08/1896.

His parents were Samuel Burnett(1856-1929) and

Catherine Louisa Corry(1863-1926).

They were married in 1885.

Thomas had 3 brothers,Ivan J(born in 1893),John Joseph (born in 1893) and Samuel Richard(born in 1894).

He also had 6 sisters,Sarah Maria(born in 1886),Alice Elizabeth(born in 1889),Ethel Georgina(born in 1891),

Margaret Grace(born in 1898),

Frances Catherine Louise(born in 1900)

and Hilda M(born in 1904).

In the Irish census recorded on 31/03/1901,the family were living in Abbeyderg,Keenagh,County Longford.Samuel senior was employed as a farmer.

Thomas was educated at Keenagh National School.

In the Irish census recorded on 02/04/1911,Thomas was boarding on Main Street Ballinasloe Urban County Galway,whilst working as a shop apprentice.

He enlisted in Ballinasloe County Galway on 15/11/1915.

His disembarkation into France was on 20/07/1916.

He was killed in action on 07/06/1917.

In his will dated 15/08/1916,he left all his property and effects to his mother.*
