Born in Walpole St Peter,Norfolk in 1898.
In the 1911 census, he is recorded as living with his father,John Linford Porter,a farm labourer,his mother Elizabeth (nee Turner(married 1881)),along with his brothers Charles and Arthur and his 2 sisters,Mary Elizabeth and Bertha at
Grass Pan Cottages,West End ,March,Cambridgeshire.
Stanley was employed as a farm labourer.
He enlisted in March,Cambridgeshire,originally as a Private(16972) in the Suffolk Regiment,beforel later being transferred to the 8th Battalion Royal Irish Rifles.
He was killed in action on 07-06-1917.
