   71974 Private Thomas Davies

  The King's(Liverpool) Regiment

              5th July 1917

Born in Nolton,Pembrokeshire in 1881.

In the 1891 census,he is recorded as living with his father,

David Howell Davies(1844-1930),a coal miner,and his mother,

Amy( nee Morris(married 1868)),1846-1934 at Nolton North,Nolton.

He had 7 brothers,William(1872-27-06-1952),John

(born in 1874),Charles(born in 1876),

David(1878-26-02-1943),Stephen(born in (1883),

Benjamin(1886-19-03-1918) and Henry(1888-1927).

Thomas also had a sister,Alice who was born in 1870.

In the 1911 census Thomas is recorded as being employed as a labourer with horses,whilst his father was now a delver in a stone quarry.

The family were living at,The Folly,Nolton Broad Haven,Pembrokeshire.

In 1915 he married Hilda Morgan,who after his death would remarry in 1921 to William Twigg.  

He enlisted in Cardiff as a private (71974) in the King's(Liverpool) Regiment, but was later transferred as a private(48129) to the

81st Labour Corps.

He was killed in action on 05-07-1917.

His brother served as a private(203014) in the 13th Battalion Welsh Regiment.He died of his wounds on 19-03-1918 and is buried in Longuenesse (St.Omer) Souvenir Cemetery(Plot IV F.72).
